Targeted at young guests staying at CLUB MED's Village, the Skateboarding Clinic project was inaugurated during the July winter school holidays of 2004 at CLUB MED ITAPARICA.
Met with wide approval by kids and youngsters, CLUB MED decided to reissue the project in the July school holidays of 2005, rolling it back not only to the Itaparica Village for a second turn, but also opening its first edition at the Rio das Pedras Village. The clinic is yet another entertainment option at the resort's Villages, an opportunity for their younger guests to learn the tricks of an action sport on the rise worldwide.
Once more, a certified hit!
The clinics were packed throughout their three-week period, two weeks in Rio and one week in Bahia. An impressive turnout of over 400 young attendees practiced at the ramps built exclusively for this activity. With two daily sessions, classes were administered by experienced and skilled pro skaters who not only taught basic skateboarding techniques and drills, but also showcased some awesome tricks.
A noteworthy feature was the mini-ramp, a scaled down version of a typical "Half Pipe" where pro riders perform their aerial tricks.
The young crowd gave them a two-thumbs-up approval and left craving for more! Sometime on their next school vacation. maybe?!?!?!
